Let’s say I pray for ten hours and study the word of God for seven (7) hours daily. If you’d walk up to me and ask me “how is your walk with God?” I most likely would give you the reply (after mustering every ounce of humility I feel possible, trying not to sound proud) ;wonderful! Great! The Lord has been Faithful! And I guess you’d agree with me, right?
One of the major reasons people (including a believers) would actually profess themselves as doing okay in the things of God (and even generally in life) is because compared to the guy or lady next door, he/she seems to be doing a lot better. But the reality remains that when evaluated with God’s curriculum and syllabus of Jesus Christ for our lives we may often find out that we are lagging far behind.
…but they measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves among themselves are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12.
Through the light of Scripture, it is explicitly stated that judging and defining success based on the template of another man’s status is tantamount to foolishness.
Get it right! Measurments and comparisons are not wrong but when the template for such evaluation is another man rather than Jesus Christ who is God’s standard for our existence, we posit ourselves out of congruence with God’s will for our lives.
God bless you!
